Despite existing initiatives and infrastructure, Iran’s food environment still does not effectively support healthy dietary choices and lags behind successful international experiences. Institutional weaknesses, poorly designed policies, limited cross-sector collaboration, and insufficient monitoring reduce the impact of interventions. This situation contributes to a higher burden of non-communicable diseases and significant social and economic costs. This policy brief aims to provide recommendations to improve the quality of policies and infrastructure for a healthier food environment in Iran. Key areas include food environment regulatory policies (pricing, access, marketing, and food composition) and supportive infrastructure and nutritiongovernance (monitoring, accountability, and sustainable financing).
