The Position of Visiting the Sick in Islamic Lifestyle from the Perspective of Narrations

Background: In Islam, special attention is given to social relationships among people. It is evident that specific recommendations have been provided to strengthen these relationships. One of the matters that Islam has emphasized is visiting the sick, as it plays an important role in creating a favorable environment for restoring the patient's health.
Methods: This research is descriptive-analytical, out through conceptual and documentary analysis. The statements related to the position of visiting the sick in Islamic lifestyle from the perspective carried of narrations were collected, compiled, and explained.
Results: The position of visiting the sick in Islamic lifestyle from the perspective of narrations was identified in four areas: 1) The necessity of visiting the sick, 2) The rewards of visiting the sick, 3) The etiquettes of visiting the sick, and 4) The patients to be visited.
Conclusion: Visitors, by visiting the sick, not only uplift the patient’s spirits and create a closer bond but also become aware of the patient's needs and work towards meeting them. When visiting the sick, the visitor must observe the following etiquettes: respecting the appropriate time for the visit, short visits, kindness towards the patient, praying for the patient, requesting prayers from the patient, visiting someone who has not visited, refraining from excessive eating near the patient, and quietly praising.
