Role and Mission of Women and Youth and Their Position Within the Academy of Medical Sciences

Background: On the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, the Supreme Leader coined the second phase of actions following the Islamic revolution to be "the phase of self-improvement, socialization and civilization". Herein we sought to assess the role and mission of women and youth, as well as the role of the Academy of Medical Sciences played during the second phase of the Islamic Revolution.
Methods: Members of the Women's Health Scientific Group at the Academy of Medical Sciences were given four sessions of group discussion, By reviewing existing policies and content analysis of the second phase of the Islamic revolution, policies were proposed in the fields of ethics spirituality, science, technology, pursued by adolescent women. They also identified strategies implementing the proposed policies needed infrastructures at the Academy of Medical Sciences as well as the community.
Results: By analyzing group discussion sessions 31 policies were developed. These policies were in the fields of science and technology (12 cases), ethics and spirituality (8 cases) and elites (11 cases) respectively. In order to implement the proposed policies at the Academy of Medical Sciences, 6 action plans were derived. Also 21 plans were identified to make use of the capacities of the Academy of Medical Sciences to help and support the implementation of these policies at the community level.
Conclusion: Implementation of appropriate policies in various fields with support of relevant organizations and institutions, can be effective in procuring goals of the second phase of the Islamic Revolution.
