Abstract:   (16 Views)
Background: In recent decades, patient-centered care has emerged as one of the core principles of healthcare systems, emphasizing active patient participation in managing their own health. Advances in technology, particularly in digital health, have created new opportunities to enhance service quality and improve patient engagement. This study aims to examine the role of digital health technologies in strengthening patient-centered care within the pharmaceutical industry.
Methods: This narrative review was conducted using an analytical–interpretive approach. Searches were performed in PubMed and Google Scholar databases using keywords related to “patient-centered care” and “digital health.” Scientific articles, case studies, and credible documents were selected, reviewed, and analyzed to identify key dimensions, trends, and challenges in the use of digital technologies for enhancing patient participation.
Results: Technologies such as wearable health devices, patient communication platforms, artificial intelligence, gamification, virtual clinical trials, electronic health records, and large-scale data analytics have contributed to improving patient engagement, personalizing care, and enhancing treatment outcomes. Nevertheless, challenges persist, including traditional pharmaceutical industry culture, regulatory complexities, data security concerns, and low levels of digital health literacy.
Conclusion: Achieving comprehensive patient-centered care in the pharmaceutical industry requires the integration of digital health solutions with appropriate policymaking and the development of legal, cultural, and educational infrastructures. Such an approach can improve treatment outcomes, increase patient satisfaction, and reduce healthcare costs.
