Mental health disorders, particularly among women, is one of the major public health challenges in Iran, imposing a considerable burden on individual, and social well-being. The increasing prevalence of mental disorders over the past three decades—especially among women—highlights the urgent need for attention to this issue. Promoting lifestyle modification among women, as one of the most effective approaches for the prevention and management of mental health disorders, can contribute significantly to improving women’s mental well-being and, ultimately, enhancing community health. This policy brief emphasizes the design of multisectoral interventions across four key dimensions: social and psychosocial empowerment of women, lifestyle modification and reinforcement of health-promoting behaviors, reform of legal and environmental structures, and strengthening of identity, spirituality, and cultural values. Various strategies, such as life skills training, promoting physical activity, improving nutrition, and establishing supportive networks for women, are incorporated into these policies. Furthermore, integrating local, cultural, and spiritual capacities into policymaking can play a crucial role in enhancing women’s psychological resilience. Implementation of these policies requires a coordinated, participatory, and multisectoral approach involving all relevant stakeholders, including ministries and related institutions. The key recommendations of this policy brief are establishing an intersectoral collaboration secretariat in Ministry of Health and Medical Education and developing a national framework for the implementation of this program.
