The Effectiveness of Education of Health Promotion Program Based on Islamic Meaning on The Mental Health and Resilience of Students

Background: Increasing mental health and resilience leads to the progress and growth of students. Meaning therapy based on Iranian-Islamic culture plays an important role in their mental and physical health. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the health promotion program based on Islamic meaning on the mental health and resilience of students of second-year secondary school boys in Kerman.
Methods: The research method was semi-experimental and pre-test, post-test with a control group. The statistical population of this study included all the male students of the second grade of secondary school in Kerman in the academic year of 2021-2022. Thirty participants (15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group) were selected using available sampling. The tools of data collection were Abolmaali and Mousazadeh (2018) mental health questionnaire and Bakhshizadeh et al (2016) resilience questionnaire. Meaning therapy intervention based on Iranian-Islamic culture was implemented in ten 90-minute sessions twice a week in the experimental group and the control group did not receive any training. Data was analysed with descriptive tests (mean and standard deviation) and covariance analysis using SPSS-24 software.
Results: The results of the study showed meaning therapy based on Iranian-Islamic culture is effective on the mental health and resilience of male students of the second stage of secondary school in Kerman city at a significance level of P<0.001.
Conclusion: Considering the effectiveness of meaning therapy based on Iranian-Islamic culture on mental health and resilience, this therapy can be used to reduce psychological problems in students. |
