Background: The aim of this study was to determine the role of COVID-19 anxiety in predicting obsessive-compulsive symptoms in students.
Methods: The method used in the study was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the study included380 male and females selected using available sampling based on the sample size formula M5 + 20 <N of Tabaching and Fidel (2007). Participants completed the Yale Brown (1989) Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (Y-BOCS) et al.form and Corona Anxiety Scales (Alipour,2021). The Pearson correlation test and stepwise multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data.
Results: The results showed that subscales of psychological and physical symptoms from the dimensions of coronary anxiety can significantly predict the duration, interference and the degree of discomfort caused by obsessive-compulsive symptoms; also only the psychological aspects can significantly increase the degree of resistance and control over the symptomsand predict obsession significantly. Obsessive-compulsive symptoms are reduced by reducing the psychological and physical symptoms of coronary anxiety disorder.
Conclusion: It appears that therapists, researchers and academic advisors can use the results of this study to reduce the psychological problems of COVID-19 inflicted individuals and improve psychological issues (cognitive, motivational and social) in students.
